Sim Cards
If i switch sim cards between two phones what will happen?

The two phones are an At&t f160 and an LG Xenon. They are both with At&t. I was wondering if I were to switch the two’s sim cards, will the two phones switch numbers and the data that they have on it and will they lock up? Please tell me everything that you know that will happen when i switch the two’s sim cards because i do not want to risk anything.

The phone numbers for the phones will switch. The data is a bit trickier. The data on the two phones – if the data resides in the phone themselves will be retained with the phone. If the data, such as contact lists, is maintained in the Sim Card then the data will follow the sim. The phones should not lock up.

When you switch sim cards, the phone will read the sim and communicate with AT&T to see if the sim is authorized. Once it does that and gets the OK from AT&T the phone will then show AT&T on the display and be ready for use. Whatever data is on the sim will be available on the phone that the sim is installed on. Data that resides on the previous phone will be retained by the previous phone and will not transfer over.
